At Alerces we provide kindergarten children a gentle introduction into the schedule and routine of elementary school where they gain confidence through social cooperation and play, reading and writing in both English and Spanish, music education, mindfulness practice through yoga and outdoor play as part of our Forest School initiative. With the guide of a primary school teacher they support each other through play-based learning that meet the benchmarks of the Saskatchewan kindergarten curriculum.
At Alerces Spanish Kindergarten in Saskatoon, children can continue their bilingual education beyond Pre-K and gently transition into kindergarten while still in their familiar preschool environment.

Saskatchewan Kindergarten Curriculum
Alerces follows the Saskatchewan Kindergarten Curriculum from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education. Alerces is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and inquiry curriculum, as part of kindergarten classes becoming a true child-centered approach, letting children's curiosity grow, becoming inspired and directing their learning.
Children at Alerces learn Spanish through passive integration allowing them to learn at their own pace, in an environment rich with activities taught in Spanish, and supported through English as a secondary instruction, to ensure each student’s learning needs are being met. We have several families who enrol their children in French Immersion programs, following their kindergarten graduation at Alerces. Their children excel in grade one, having been integrated into second language immersion in their early learning education, and typically transition easily from Spanish to French.
